One of the symbols of Russia and Moscow is the Ostankino TV tower. For many years, it has maintained its position as the tallest in Europe. Among the grandiose buildings, the Ostankino TV tower is in 14th place after the World Trade Center in New York, the CN Tower in Toronto, the TV towers in Guangzhou and Tokyo, skyscrapers in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Mecca and Dubai.

Height of the Ostankino Tower

When the decision was made to erect a powerful television tower in Moscow, the Soviet Union had its own record-breaking buildings in terms of height:

cable-stayed radio and television mast in Vinnitsa (Ukraine, 354 m, 1961);
TV and radio broadcasting tower in Slonim (Belarus, 350 m at the time of construction, 1965).
The Ostankino Tower was planned to be more grandiose. The total height of the TV and radio tower is 540 meters and 10 cm. It consists of the height of the main structure, equal to 533 m, and a 7-meter flagpole.

Number of floors
