The new character banner goes live on the evening of April 28, starring Nefer, a 5-star Dendro Catalyst user, paired with another 5-star Dendro Catalyst character—Lauma.

The 4-star supporting roster on both banners is well-rounded: Xingqiu, Kirara, and Jahoda are featured together. Xingqiu is a timeless all-star for off-field Hydro application; he’s a perfect replacement for players who don’t have Yelan. Kirara provides shielding and enhanced exploration mobility, making overworld gameplay smooth and comfortable. Jahoda is a free character from this version’s main event, so you can simply unlock her constellation levels passively on the banner without spending extra Primogems.

The weapon banner features two 5-star Catalysts at the same time: Nefer’s signature weapon Nightweaver's Looking Glass and Lauma’s signature weapon Reliquary of Truth. The 4-star weapons include familiar staples like the Sacrificial Sword, Favonius Lance, and Favonius Warbow, all with solid general usability. However, this dual-Catalyst banner is highly specialized; you should think twice before pulling if you only intend to get one of the two 5-star characters.

Additionally, the Fontaine Chronicle Wish is available at the same time, allowing you to target specific Fontaine characters. If you’re not dead-set on Nefer but want to strengthen your Fontaine teams, this is the more reliable option.

First things first: Is Nefer strong? Yes—but with conditions.

Nefer’s core playstyle is dealing special damage through Dendro reactions. In short: apply Dendro first, trigger reactions with Hydro, then absorb the reaction residues on the field with her Charged Attacks to gain a temporary damage boost. Once this rotation runs smoothly, her Charged Attacks deal massive damage—she’s a satisfying "one-hit finisher" character once Energy Recharge is sorted.

The downside is that her 0-Constellation (C0) form is a far cry from her fully built state. Her damage is adequate but not impressive, and her rotation works but isn’t seamless. The truly "overpowered" feel of the character mostly kicks in at Constellation 2 (C2) and above. She also relies heavily on Lauma; the two are practically a bonded pair. If you already own Lauma, pulling Nefer now completes your core combo perfectly. But if you’re starting from scratch with both characters, the investment cost is quite high.

Nefer is worth pulling if you need a Dendro Main DPS and already have Lauma (or plan to get her alongside Nefer in this banner). If you just want to casually expand your Dendro roster, C0 Nefer won’t give you an immediate, significant Spiral Abyss power spike—you’d be better off prioritizing more versatile characters from the Fontaine Chronicle Wish.

Just keep in mind the investment is substantial—if you do decide to pull, prep your Primogems via COCODP now instead of rushing at the last minute, which will ruin your pulling experience.
